Delhi police arrested 6,291 for illegal gambling in 2020

Police arrested 6,291 people in more than 2,400 cases of illegal gambling in 2020.

India.- According to data released by the Delhi police, 6,291 people were arrested in 2,414 cases related to gambling in the Indian capital last year.

With most forms of gambling are illegal in India, police carry out raids on a regular basis.

In one of the largest incidents last year, 58 people were arrested after police busted illegal casinos which were being run in hotels in Vasant Kunj.

Police also took actions against gambling rackets being run in houses. According to the figures, 22 people were arrested while gambling at Model Town area while 21 were arrested in Greater Kailash and 11 in the area of Tilak Naga.

Meanwhile, others states in India, such as Kerala, are debating whether to declare online betting and gambling illegal.
