Steve McCann will assume his new role as CEO of Crown Resorts on June 1.

Australia.- Steve McCann has been appointed as the new CEO and managing director of Crown Resorts with effect from June 1.

The appointment comes three months after former Crown Resorts CEO Ken Barton left the company following criticism in Patricia Bergin’s report in New South Wales inquiry into the casino operator.

McCann is currently group chief executive officer at real estate and investment group Lendlease Corporation, a role he has held for more than a decade.

Crown Resorts reported that McCann will leave Lendlease Corporation’s board on May 31, 2021 to join Crown upon receipt of all probity and regulatory approvals.

Helen Coonan will continue to perform her executive responsibilities as interim executive chairman on Crown’s board until McCann has received the necessary approvals.

Coonan said: “Steve is a first-class appointment for Crown and the right person to embed the ongoing reforms necessary to restore regulatory and public confidence in our operations.”

Steve McCann said: “I am looking forward to joining Crown at a crucial time for the organisation and see a real opportunity to help drive significant shareholder value as the company addresses its challenges and emerges from the constraints of the pandemic.”
