Macau GGR to barely grow in September, CLSA says
Analysts believe Macau’s September gross gaming revenue will reach MOP18.3bn.
Macau.- CLSA has forecast that Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) in September will reach around MOP18.3bn (US$2.27bn). That would represent just 0.3 per cent growth from the same month last year. The estimate is well below the 9.5 per cent median forecast among analysts, although current market expectations range a widely as from 0.3 per cent to 18 per cent.
CLSA’s outlook comes despite a comparison base impacted by Super Typhoon Ragasa, which forced Macau’s casinos to suspend operations for 33 hours. GGR for the month was MOP18.29bn, up 6 per cent year-on-year.
August GGR was weaker-than-expected. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported that Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) last month was MOP21.89bn (US$2.71bn), around 2 per cent below both CLSA’s estimate and the market consensus.
