Cambodia revokes Roxy casino licence over alleged online scam links
The casino licence was withdrawn after allegations of scam involvement.
Cambodia.- The Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia (CGMC) has revoked the casino licence of Roxy Casino in Bavet City, Svay Rieng province. The decision follows allegations that the property was involved in online scam activities.
According to The Phnom Penh Post, the licence revocation took effect on June 9. Authorities stated that the operator had breached conditions governing casino operations by engaging in activities beyond the scope of its licensed gaming business. The revocation followed an inspection conducted on May 21 by provincial and municipal authorities together with the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS).
The licence revocation is the latest in a growing list of enforcement actions against casino operators. Earlier this year, Cambodian regulators withdrew the licences of casinos in Sihanoukville and other jurisdictions after raids uncovered alleged online scam operations being conducted from within gaming premises.
