BetStop reaches 67,480 registrations after three years in Australia
The regulator highlighted that 38 per cent of registrants have chosen to self-exclude for life.
Australia.- BetStop, Australia’s national gambling self-exclusion register, has reached 67,480 total registrations three years after its launch, according to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). As of 31 July 2026, BetStop had 41,290 active exclusions.
The regulator highlighted that 78 per cent of registrants are aged under 40, while 38 per cent have chosen to self-exclude for life.
BetStop enables Australians to self-exclude from all licensed online and telephone betting services. Betting providers are prohibited from allowing excluded individuals to place bets or open new betting accounts, as well as from sending them direct marketing communications.
Earlier this year, an independent review identified opportunities to strengthen the service, particularly in the areas of awareness, user experience and support for registrants. In response, the ACMA has established a BetStop Taskforce to progress the review’s recommendations. The taskforce will work with stakeholders to strengthen support pathways available to BetStop registrants.
