Armenia.- Gambling regulations have been tightened in Armenia after the government approved a series of amendments to gambling laws. The new regime includes stricter regulations for operators on lotteries and advertisement, which will only be allowed within the country’s borders.

Under the new conditions, adverts are required to be aimed at people aged 21 and older and should be only broadcasted between 10pm and 6am and the amendments foresee fines of €1,800 to those that fail to comply with the new regulations.

Furthermore, legislation changes involve requirements for the location of lottery gaming, as the “Law on Lotteries” has been changed to only allow it in Tsakhkadzor, Sevan, Jermuk and Meghri. According to news agency ARKA, gambling could help boost tourism in these resort cities and build on a developed infrastructure in Meghri.

Not only Armenia changed its advertising and lottery location rules, but the Armenia’s National Assembly also raised the minimum gambling age for sports betting and lottery from 18 to 21. In addition, fines have been raised in order to prevent operators from breaching the new gambling rules.
