Betting powerhouse backs grassroots running with club rebrand and sponsorship of major races.
South Africa.- World Sports Betting has entered the athletics arena, partnering with the Randburg Harriers Running Club to back grassroots sport while strengthening community engagement in South Africa.
The running club based in the popular city of Johannesburg will now officially be known as the World Sports Betting (WSB) Randburg Harriers Running Club.
The project shows the betting company’s commitment to grassroots sport and nurturing future sports stars, creating new opportunities for runners of all levels.
Nick Moyo, Sponsorship Manager at World Sports Betting, said: “This is more than a sponsorship, it’s a shared vision. Both organisations are fundamentally committed to strengthening community ties, fostering athletic growth and making sport accessible to all.”
WSB’s support goes beyond naming rights. The company will become the title sponsor for two of the club’s most popular races in 2026, including the Valentine’s 10 km Night Race and the Easter 100 Race. Both events are major highlights on South Africa’s running calendar, drawing athletes from across the country.
Moyo added: “As a proudly South African brand, WSB is honoured to deepen our engagement with Randburg Harriers. Sport has the power to unite communities, elevate local talent and ignite passion, and this partnership embodies those values.”

Founded in 2002, WSB is South Africa’s leading online sportsbook, offering betting on local and international sports, horse racing and casino games. Licensed by the Gauteng Gambling Board, the company is known for its innovative digital tools and active role in community initiatives.
Meanwhile the WSB Randburg Harriers Running Club described the deal as a turning point for the club. Chairperson Alain van Achter said: “Together, we will expand athletic access, foster healthier communities and empower aspiring athletes across Johannesburg, in line with our mission of accessible sport and community upliftment.”
Randburg Harriers has long focused on inclusivity in sport. The club organises weekly sessions, coaching schemes, cross-country races and premier races, all with a view to developing talent while fostering community participation.
The newly formed WSB Randburg Harriers Running Club is a fresh start for South African sport, equipping runners and fostering community nationwide.
