Women in Gaming Africa network expands to over 850 members across 21 countries

Growth milestone highlighted as the organisation marks International Women’s Day 2026 and the increasing role of women in Africa’s gaming industry.

Kenya.- Women in Gaming Africa (WiGA) marked International Women’s Day 2026 by highlighting the expansion of its community, which the organisation announced now includes more than 850 members across 21 countries, reflecting the increasing role of women in Africa’s gaming industry.

International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, celebrated the achievements of women worldwide and highlighted ongoing efforts to advance gender equality. WiGA, founded in September 2023 by industry executive Lois Bright, was established to connect and support women working across the continent’s gaming and betting sector through mentorship, networking and leadership opportunities.

In a message shared to mark the global observance, WiGA referenced this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain,” emphasising the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the industry. The organisation said its members are based in more than 21 African countries, including Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and Botswana, highlighting the pan-continental reach of its growing professional network.

The organisation said: “In just a short time, WiGA has grown to over 850 members across 21 countries – a network of women (and allies) who are each contributing in their own unique way to the growth and future of the African gaming industry.”

Mentorship and leadership

The group noted that its members represent a wide range of roles across the sector, including professionals mentoring others, individuals developing their careers and leaders running companies within the gaming industry.

According to the organisation, the “Give to Gain” theme highlights the importance of creating opportunities for others across the industry. “Progress happens when we give – our time, our knowledge, our support and our belief in one another. Because when women are given opportunities, mentorship and space to lead, everyone gains,” added WiGA.

WiGA also acknowledged several partners supporting its initiatives, including mentorship and leadership organisations working with the group to create professional development opportunities for women in the sector.

The organisation said building stronger networks and leadership pathways for women remains central to its mission as Africa’s gaming industry continues to grow.
