WLA extends awards deadline to October 2, giving African lotteries more time to enter

The two-day extension allows eligible lottery operators across Africa to finalise submissions ahead of the World Lottery Summit in Sydney.

South Africa.- The World Lottery Association (WLA) has extended the deadline for its 2026 Advertising and Responsible Gaming Awards to October 2. The extension gives eligible WLA members, including those in Africa, more time to submit entries ahead of the World Lottery Summit 2026 in Sydney from November 9 to 12.

The original deadline was September 30, with the WLA announcing a two-day extension for members to complete their submissions.

In its announcement, the WLA said: “To give you a little extra time to finalise your submissions, the deadline for the WLA Advertising and Responsible Gaming Awards Program has, exceptionally, been extended to October 2.”

The awards recognise achievements in advertising, marketing communications and responsible gaming initiatives. Categories include product advertising, campaign effectiveness, corporate advertising, social impact advertising and responsible gaming initiatives.

The programme is open to eligible WLA members worldwide, including qualifying lottery and sports-betting organisations. African organisations must meet the WLA’s applicable membership and awards requirements to participate.

African lottery organisations have previously earned recognition through the WLA awards programme. South Africa’s former National Lottery operator, Ithuba Holdings, won the Best Responsible Gaming Advertising award at the 2024 World Lottery Summit in Paris.

The extended deadline gives eligible WLA members worldwide additional time to showcase their work on the global stage ahead of the Sydney summit. The winners will be announced during the World Lottery Summit 2026 in Sydney.
