Uganda National Lottery expands digital reach through PayWay partnership
Players can now buy lottery tickets nationwide via PayWay outlets and mobile wallets, boosting access and national development.
Uganda.- Uganda’s National Lottery has expanded digital access, enabling players to buy tickets nationwide through PayWay’s outlets and mobile wallet. The move makes playing faster, easier and more convenient, while supporting national development initiatives across the country.
The Lottery, operated by ITHUBA Uganda under the supervision of the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB), is using PayWay’s nationwide digital payment network to offer secure ticket purchases with cash or digital funds, bringing the lottery closer to players, including those in communities where traditional outlets are limited.
PayWay said: “PayWay brings the Ithuba Lottery right to you, making it faster and easier than ever to play the Uganda National Lottery – whether at any PayWay outlet or instantly through the PayWay Wallet.”
PayWay, operated by African Vending Systems Ltd., is a trusted payments platform widely used for utilities, airtime and bill payments. Its integration with the National Lottery gives players a familiar, reliable channel for participation while ensuring transactions remain traceable and compliant.
Digital play goes live
ITHUBA’s digital strategy is driving rapid adoption of mobile and online lottery play. Players can now enjoy popular games such as Lotto, Uganda PowerBall, scratch cards and instant-win digital games through PayWay outlets, mobile apps and USSD platforms.
Lottery proceeds continue to support social development initiatives nationwide, including education, health, youth programmes and community projects.
The PayWay collaboration reflects a wider shift toward technology-driven lottery distribution across Africa, improving transparency, broadening reach and simplifying participation. With this digital expansion, the Uganda National Lottery strengthens its role in national development and community impact.
