Uganda gaming regulator explores joint public awareness efforts with media centre on gaming regulation
The NLGRB is seeking wider reach for information on gaming regulation and responsible gambling through public communication channels.
Uganda.- Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has engaged the Uganda Media Centre (UMC) to explore collaboration on public awareness of gaming regulation and responsible gambling.
The engagement, held on August 25, focused on opportunities for the two institutions to work together to improve public understanding of Uganda’s gaming regulations and promote responsible gambling practices. Discussions also covered how coordinated communication could strengthen the reach and impact of the Board’s awareness initiatives.
During the meeting, UMC executive director Alan Kasujja expressed support for the NLGRB’s initiatives and indicated the Media Centre’s willingness to work with the regulator.
He said: “We are sold on the Board ideas and are open to collaboration. We are ready to support the initiatives and believe the partnership will bring meaningful impact.”
The initiative is expected to widen the reach of responsible gambling messages and regulatory information through the Uganda Media Centre’s public communication channels.
The NLGRB described the discussions as productive, noting that engagement with media and public information institutions could broaden awareness of regulatory requirements and responsible gambling. The regulator thanked the Media Centre for the discussions and expressed interest in advancing the areas identified during the meeting.
The engagement comes amid wider stakeholder consultations by the Board, which recently included internet service providers (ISPs) and the Uganda Revenue Authority, as it seeks to strengthen coordination and address key issues affecting the gaming sector.
