Tanzania.- The Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) has supported an environmental initiative in Dodoma, highlighting how the country’s regulated gambling sector is contributing to environmental sustainability efforts.
The activity that took place on April 1 was highlighted in a notice published on the GBT’s website, outlining the organisation’s involvement. The notice stated: “The Gaming Board of Tanzania sponsors a tree-planting initiative in Dodoma as part of efforts to support environmental conservation.”
The GBT currently oversees 62 licensed gaming operators and has issued more than 8,500 licences across different gaming activities. The board also conducts inspections and enforcement actions aimed at addressing illegal gaming operations and ensuring that licensed operators comply with regulatory requirements.
The Board is the national authority responsible for licensing, regulating and supervising gaming activities in the country. Established under the Gaming Act Cap. 41 and operational since 1 July 2003, the board oversees compliance among gaming operators and monitors the development of the sector.
