Suncoast Casino revs up South Africa’s electrifying Motorsport showdown
Africa’s premier beachfront casino lands exclusive rights to South Africa’s biggest spinning showdown this August.
South Africa.- Suncoast Casino, one of South Africa’s most prestigious entertainment destinations, has been exclusively chosen to host the Red Bull Shay’ iMoto for the first time, marking a major milestone in both the casino’s and South Africa’s motorsport calendar.
Shay’ iMoto, which means “throw the car” in the African isiZulu language, is South Africa’s ultimate motorsport spectacle born from township street culture. It’s where high-speed wheel spins meet tyre-smoking stunts and jaw-dropping car control, and drivers aren’t just judged on precision, but also scored on creativity, flair and how well they can impress the crowd
This year’s edition will take place in the city of Durban for the first time, with Suncoast’s oceanfront location providing the perfect stage for the action. The high-octane showdown takes place on August 10 with the organiser, Red Bull, all set for action.
“Fans will gather to witness the crowning of the Red Bull Shay’ iMoto champion on the event day. Judged by a panel of well-known motorsport personalities, alongside votes from the crowd, the format ensures that both precision and performance are rewarded,” said Red Bull, according to IOL.
Coastal conditions are expected to give drivers a performance edge. The cooler, oxygen-rich air at sea level boosts the power of naturally aspirated engines, perfect for intense spinning battles.
From rebellious African informal suburb roots to packed arenas, Shay’ iMoto has become a national motorsport phenomenon where attitude, artistry and adrenaline collide.
Motorsport fans, petrolheads and car culture devotees will gather at the casino to see South Africa’s top spinners in action, including King Katra, Sam Sam, Panjaro Kruger and reigning champion Chadwin Hadjie as they tear up the tarmac in pursuit of glory.
The event promises a bold new course layout, higher stakes and surprise twists keeping fans and drivers on edge right down to the final spin.
