Betting operator becomes main sponsor of the community football club for the 2026/27 season as part of a grassroots sport partnership in Botswana.

Botswana.- Sports betting operator Sunbet Botswana has secured naming rights to Siwelele Social Club as part of a sponsorship agreement aimed at supporting grassroots football in Botswana.

The deal will see the organisation renamed Sunbet Siwelele Social Club for the 2026/2027 season. The naming rights take effect immediately and will apply across the club’s branding, communications and official activities.

Sunbet Botswana said the sponsorship reflects its commitment to supporting football at community level. “We are proud to officially announce Sunbet Botswana as the main sponsor of Siwelele Social Club for the 2026/2027 season,” the company said in a statement.

The operator said that securing the club’s naming rights represents a significant moment for football sponsorship in the country. “This marks the first naming-rights sponsorship of its kind in Botswana football – a historic moment for the social soccer movement and its community,” added Sunbet.

The partnership aims to strengthen grassroots football structures while supporting locally driven sporting initiatives. The collaboration is also intended to support the club’s long-term development. Club leaders described the sponsorship as “an important moment in the organisation’s journey”.

The partnership reflects what organisers described as “shared ambitions for growth, visibility and long-term development” for the community football initiative.

The Midweek Sun reported that the sponsorship includes P80,000 (€5,500) in financial backing for the club. Members and supporters were also encouraged to back the partnership and recognise the role sponsorship can play in sustaining grassroots football activities.
