Sun International launches Women Who Shape Tomorrow leadership series
Four-part leadership series debuts ahead of National Women’s Day, spotlighting female executives shaping Sun International’s future.
South Africa- Sun International has launched a new leadership series celebrating women leaders helping shape the future of one of Africa’s largest gaming and hospitality groups as part of South Africa’s Women’s Month.
The initiative forms part of South Africa’s annual Women’s Month celebrations, ahead of National Women’s Day on August 9, which commemorates the historic 1956 Women’s March and recognises the contributions of women across the country.
The four-part Women Who Shape Tomorrow series debuted this week with Zandile Mposelwa, the company’s Director: Corporate Affairs, who reflects on her leadership journey and encourages women to embrace authenticity, confidence and the value they bring to the workplace.
According to Sun International, the series aims to celebrate the women helping shape the company’s future while highlighting leadership built on influence, meaningful relationships and creating opportunities for others.
In the opening episode, Mposelwa says effective leadership is not about conforming to traditional expectations but about recognising one’s strengths and leading with purpose. “I don’t need to be a man. I am impactful, I deliver what I need to deliver, I am qualified and I’m highly capable,” she says.
She also encourages women building their careers to understand the value they bring, make their contributions visible and intentionally surround themselves with people who will support their professional growth.
As one of Africa’s leading gaming, casino and hospitality operators, Sun International is using the campaign to highlight the contributions of women leaders across its business during Women’s Month.
The company said the remaining episodes in the four-part series will feature other women leaders from across the business, sharing their experiences, leadership philosophies and advice for the next generation of professionals.
The company is also extending its Women’s Month celebrations beyond the leadership series. Its Flamingo Casino in Kimberley will host Empower Her Resilience on August 29, bringing together guests for an event featuring music, storytelling and motivational speaking that celebrates the strength and resilience of women. According to Sun International, the programme will also provide a platform for local artists, creatives and community performers.
