SportyBet signs Asisat Oshoala as new brand ambassador

The deal allows SportyBet to improve its brand visibility and appeal, leveraging Oshoala’s massive following and influence in Nigeria and across Africa.

Nigeria.- SportyBet has announced Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala as its newest brand ambassador. The six-time CAF African Women’s Footballer of the Year joins South African rugby star Cheslin Kolbe and former Bafana Bafana forward Benni McCarthy in the betting company’s new ambassador lineup.

The appointment was made public on November 27 through a statement from Sporty Group, the parent company of SportyBet. Miguel Puche, Global Brand Director, said: “Asisat stands as one of Africa’s greatest sporting icons. Her excellence, discipline and global influence align perfectly with our vision. Together with Kolbe and McCarthy, she represents the future of African sport and the bold ambition that defines SportyBet.”

Oshoala started her career with FC Robo in Lagos, moved to Europe with Liverpool and Arsenal, and then spent five seasons at Barcelona where she scored more than 100 goals and won the UEFA Women’s Champions League twice. She currently plays for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, where she has scored six goals in her last seven club appearances.

As part of the partnership, Oshoala will feature in SportyBet’s marketing campaigns and make appearances on behalf of the betting company at sports events or other high-profile gatherings.

SportyBet, licensed in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and several other African markets, sees the partnership as a way to deepen ties with football fans on the continent, especially younger users who follow both men’s and women’s football. The deal also allows SportyBet to improve its brand visibility and appeal, leveraging Oshoala’s massive following and influence in Nigeria and across Africa.

The announcement comes as SportyBet ramps up its marketing initiatives ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, in a bid to get high patronage during the events.
