Sports Betting East Africa+ Summit 2026 set for April in Nairobi

The 2026 edition will mark the event’s 11th year and will focus on compliance frameworks, responsible gambling measures, digital innovation and cross-border market expansion.

Nairobi.- The 11th edition of the Sports Betting East Africa+ Summit 2026 is scheduled to take place from April 22 to 24 in Nairobi, bringing together stakeholders from across Africa’s betting and gaming industry to discuss regulatory developments, market trends and technologies shaping the sector.

Organised by Eventus International, the annual summit has, over the past decade, served as a platform for operators, regulators, payment providers, software developers and legal professionals involved in sports betting and gaming across the region. The 2026 edition will mark the event’s 11th year and will focus on compliance frameworks, responsible gambling measures, digital innovation and cross-border market expansion.

According to organisers, the conference agenda is designed with an operator-focused approach, allowing industry stakeholders to examine regulatory requirements, licensing frameworks and enforcement trends affecting betting markets in East Africa. Discussions will also cover technology adoption, including mobile betting platforms, data analytics, payment infrastructure and marketing strategies used by operators in regulated markets.

The event programme will begin on April 22 with registration and a welcome reception, followed by two days of conference sessions and exhibitions on April 23 and 24. Panel discussions and keynote presentations will address issues such as market entry strategies, responsible gambling initiatives and the integration of local payment solutions that support mobile-first betting environments.

Industry recognition will also form part of the programme through the SBEA+ Eventus Awards, scheduled for April 23. The awards recognise companies and individuals contributing to innovation, operational growth and responsible gaming within the sports betting sector. Categories include Operator of the Year, Innovation of the Year and Leader in Responsible Gambling.

East Africa has become a key focus for gaming operators due to rising internet access, widespread smartphone adoption and the use of mobile money services. These developments have expanded online sports betting activity and increased interest from international operators and technology providers looking to enter or scale within regional markets.

By convening regulators, operators and technology providers, the summit aims to facilitate dialogue on how the industry can address regulatory compliance, consumer protection and sustainable market growth. The outcomes of these discussions are expected to influence how companies approach licensing, partnerships and technology adoption in East Africa’s betting markets in the coming years.
