South Africa online betting visits hit 380m in Q1 2026
Betway, YesPlay and Hollywoodbets accounted for about half of South Africa’s online betting traffic in the first quarter of 2026.
South Africa.- South Africa logged 380 million online betting visits during the first quarter of 2026, with nearly half of all traffic concentrated among just three operators as the country’s digital gambling sector continued expanding at a pace. Betway, YesPlay and Hollywoodbets together accounted for 50 per cent of total visits.
The figures covered the period between January and March 2026, according to Tribuna, citing traffic analytics data from Similarweb. The report showed that Betway led the market with 94 million visits during the quarter, followed by YesPlay with 53 million visits and Hollywoodbets with 46 million visits.
The report also indicated that South Africa averaged roughly 126 million online betting visits per month during the first quarter of 2026, with mobile users accounting for the majority of activity. Betway alone reportedly represented close to one-quarter of the country’s total online betting traffic during the period. The figures highlight growing traffic concentration among South Africa’s leading betting operators, based on estimated website analytics.
Betting traffic growth trends
Separate Blask traffic analysis pointed to strong growth across the three brands over the previous two years. Betway’s monthly visits reportedly rose from 21.9 million in January 2024 to 46 million by December 2025, while Hollywoodbets increased from 20.4 million to 24.5 million and YesPlay climbed from 380,000 to 2.7 million.
Recent consumer spending data cited by local media also suggested sports betting had become one of the fastest-growing digital entertainment sectors in the country, prompting increased debate around responsible gambling, regulation and advertising exposure.
South Africa’s regulators have meanwhile continued intensifying oversight of the sector through new compliance initiatives and verification systems aimed at tackling illegal operators, strengthening consumer protection measures and increasing scrutiny of the country’s rapidly expanding online betting industry.
