Sizekhaya expands South Africa lottery footprint with 60 Post Office branches

South Africa’s National Lottery operator has partnered with the Post Office to expand retail access across all nine provinces, with further rollout planned.

South Africa.- South Africa’s National Lottery operator, Sizekhaya Holdings, has partnered with the South African Post Office (SAPO) to expand lottery access through 60 high-volume branches across the country.

Sizekhaya took over operation of South Africa’s National Lottery on June 1, 2026, succeeding Ithuba Holdings as the licensed operator.

According to a statement published in Soweto Life Magazine, the 60-branch rollout forms part of the first phase of the partnership. The branches were selected based on transaction volumes and customer footfall.

Customers can purchase Lotto, PowerBall, PowerBall Xtra and Daily Lotto at participating branches, with terminals accepting both cash and electronic payments. Sizekhaya recently oversaw the first PowerBall Xtra jackpot cascade in South African National Lottery history, creating three winners of R45.7m (US$2.8m) each.

Sizekhaya CEO Lebogang Ndadana said the partnership would make the National Lottery more accessible by giving customers additional locations to purchase tickets.

“The National Lottery belongs to the people of South Africa, so we want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people to participate, wherever they live,” said Ndadana. “The Post Office has a footprint that reaches communities across the country, and this partnership gives people even more places to buy their National Lottery tickets as part of their everyday lives. We’re delighted to be working with SAPO and look forward to growing the partnership.”

Post Office expands lottery role

Acting CEO of SAPO Fathima Gany said the partnership supports the Post Office’s strategy. “The partnership with Sizekhaya supports our strategy to diversify revenue while expanding the range of services available through our branch network. It strengthens our value proposition by providing customers with greater convenience and more reasons to visit their local Post Office.”

Participating branches will also be able to pay National Lottery winnings of up to R2,000 (US$124). Gany said the rollout is the first phase of the partnership, with further expansion planned following an assessment of the initial branches’ performance.

SAPO and Sizekhaya are also engaging with a leading commercial bank to facilitate the payment of higher-value winnings through selected Post Office branches in future.

The 60 branches are spread across all nine South African provinces, extending the National Lottery’s retail reach across the country. The rollout covers Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Free State and Northern Cape.
