Free-to-play EPL digital game with exciting weekly and monthly prizes.

Sierra Leone.- Africell has launched Sierra Leone’s first official virtual Fantasy Premier League game as the 2025/2026 English Premier League (EPL) season kicks off this week. The free-to-play competition lets fans nationwide manage virtual squads based on real EPL match results, with weekly and monthly rewards up for grabs.

It’s a dynamic online football game, where fans skip the pitch and manage digital teams, with scores driven by real EPL match data.

The recent launch brought together enthusiastic employees and football fans at telecom giant Africell’s headquarters, reflecting the company’s passion for joining people together with sports and online activities in Sierra Leone.

Abdul Aziz Kamara, Media Relations Team Lead at Africell, said: “Fantasy Premier League is a free online football management game that mirrors real-life English Premier League performance.”

The objective is to construct a fantasy 15-man squad, two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards within an overall budget of £100m. Points are incremented or deducted based on real-match stats in the form of goals, assists, clean sheets, yellow cards, own goals and missed penalties.

Managers must also choose a captain, whose points are doubled, and a vice-captain, who steps in if the captain does not play.

Kamara explained the game’s strategic depth. “Players can make one free transfer each game week, with extra transfers costing points. Managers can also deploy tactical ‘chips’ such as Wildcard, Triple Captain, Bench Boost and Free Hit to shake up the competition over the season’s 38 game weeks.”

Free to play with weekly and monthly prizes

To make the game accessible to players across Sierra Leone, there are no entry fees. Africell’s Marketing Communications Manager, Kamanda Koroma, said: “It is a real-time, data-driven competition that is open to everyone, with no entry fee. We’ve designed the Africell FPL to be as fair and rewarding as possible.”

Koroma also revealed the exciting prizes on offer: weekly winners will receive a Yamix bundle, including SMS top-ups, data packages and a free one-month Startimes subscription.

Monthly champions will receive NLe3,500 (€15) and a custom jersey of their favourite Premier League team. At season’s end, the top five managers will share cash prizes, with the champion taking home NLe100,000 (€430).

Players can play for free but must have an active Afrimoney account and a registered Africell SIM to stand a chance of winning prizes. Africell keeps the excitement going throughout the whole season by sending updates and fresh content on WhatsApp, social media and podcasts that keep the players interested and wanting to play.
