Senegal lottery LONASE partners with CEPIAD to tackle gambling harm

The partnership will combine operational and clinical expertise to address behavioural risks associated with gaming.

Senegal.- The Senegalese National Lottery (LONASE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Dakar Integrated Addiction Treatment Centre (CEPIAD) to strengthen responsible gaming measures and expand support for people experiencing gambling-related harm.

The agreement formalises cooperation between the state-backed gambling operator and the addiction treatment centre, with a focus on the prevention, awareness and treatment of addiction linked to gambling activities. Both entities indicated that the partnership will combine operational and clinical expertise to address behavioural risks associated with gaming.

CEPIAD, established in 2014, is the first addiction treatment centre of its kind in West Africa. It provides comprehensive outpatient care, including counselling, harm reduction services and psychosocial support for individuals affected by gambling addiction and substance use.

Under the new agreement, LONASE and CEPIAD will collaborate on awareness campaigns and initiatives that strengthen early detection of problematic gambling and improve referral pathways for treatment.

Both organisations are expected to outline implementation timelines and measurable outcomes as the programme progresses, with stakeholders monitoring its impact on prevention, treatment access and player protection.
