LONASE officials mark the handover at Wootel as Ibrahima Ndiaye takes over as the subsidiary’s new director general.

New director general Ibrahima Ndiaye plans to combine domestic customer-relations work with offshore services for international partners.

Senegal.- Senegal’s National Lottery (LONASE) is positioning its Wootel subsidiary as a job-creating profit centre by combining domestic customer-relations services with offshore outsourcing for international clients. Newly appointed director general Ibrahima Ndiaye presented the strategy at the October 1 handover ceremony, setting out plans to build partnerships in Senegal, across Africa and beyond. The expansion forms part of LONASE’s wider diversification strategy through its subsidiaries.

The inshore operation will work with LONASE and partners across the public, private and parapublic sectors, while the offshore component will target companies that need to manage or outsource customer-relations services. Ndiaye said: “We are looking for partners abroad to be able to create as many jobs as possible and make this centre a profit centre.”

He said the offshore work could help Wootel evolve in Senegal, across Africa and internationally. Ndiaye said Wootel forms part of LONASE’s strategy to diversify its offerings through subsidiaries. “LONASE must diversify its offers with its subsidiaries. And for this, we must move towards job creation by setting up a profit centre, like WOOTEL,” Ndiaye said.

Ndiaye said the strategy reflects the vision of LONASE Director General Abdourahmane Baldé for Wootel. He also credited Mansal with setting important milestones for continuity within the framework of the subsidiary’s profitability.

Mansal described Wootel as an ambitious project and said work had focused on optimising and rationalising its projects. He said Wootel needed to become profitable and “autonomous as soon as possible”. Mansal called on LONASE and Wootel’s board to give Ndiaye the resources needed to implement his policy and vision.
