Rwanda’s MWC conference set to boost Africa’s igaming and digital growth

Rwanda hosts continent’s top connectivity summit, spotlighting 5G, fintech and policy frameworks critical for online gaming and digital innovation.

Rwanda.- Mobile World Congress (MWC) Kigali is returning as Africa’s premier connectivity event, placing Rwanda at the heart of the continent’s digital transformation. The summit will bring together global and regional leaders to explore how fintech, AI, mobile money and digital policy are driving technological growth, trends that are rapidly reshaping Africa’s online gambling, gaming and igaming sectors.

Scheduled for October 21 to 23 at the Kigali Convention Centre, this premier connectivity summit is organised by the GSMA, the global mobile industry association, in partnership with Rwanda’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Innovation.

The event will bring together global and regional leaders to explore how fintech, AI, mobile money and digital policy are driving technological growth, developments that are rapidly transforming Africa’s digital landscape and creating innovative opportunities for growth in online gambling and igaming sectors.

A Fintechnews Africa report stated: “The programme will convene policymakers, industry leaders and innovators to engage in dialogue on key policy and regulatory issues that will shape Africa’s digital future.”

The report added that the dedicated Mobile for Development (M4D) Theatre will serve as a platform for panels and discussions on topics such as AI, mobile money and digital inclusion.

Shaping Africa’s digital and gaming future

According to Innovators Magazine, MWC Kigali 2025 is set to “shape Africa’s digital future through themes such as mobile money, AI and digital policy”. Industry analysts say these developments could positively impact online gaming and igaming services.

All the business leaders speaking at the event are CEOs: Sunil Taldar of Airtel Africa, Hassan Jaber of AXIAN Telecom, Frehiwot Tamiru of Ethiotel, Ralph Mupita of MTN Group and Yasser Shaker of Orange Middle East and Africa, along with Rwanda’s Minister of ICT and Innovation, Hon. Paula Ingabire.

The event will feature a dynamic show floor with exhibitors including AXIAN Telecom, Huawei, Meta, MTN, Orange, TerraPay, Telcoin and ZTE.

Africa’s gaming industry is rapidly expanding, fuelled by mobile connectivity and a youthful, tech-savvy population. Events like MWC Kigali 2025 are shaping the future of digital entertainment, with discussions on mobile money, AI and digital policy potentially influencing the growth of online gaming and igaming services.
