According to the panel, integrating insights from support teams with predictive algorithms improves the accuracy of risk detection.

Nigeria.- A panel session conducted on the second day of the African Gaming Expo 2026 examined how predictive tools and operational practices can improve responsible gaming efforts across African and international markets.

Sponsored by verification platform Sumsub, the panel discussed the topic of “Responsible Gaming and Predictive Tools for Problem Gambling Prevention”. The session was moderated by Fisayo Oke, CEO of GambleAlert, a Nigeria-based gambling charity, and featured participation from Cleveland Allen, CEO of the Casino Gaming Commission of Jamaica and Londani Mathavhane, Senior Manager for Compliance at the Limpopo Gambling Board.

Other speakers included Olabimpe Akingba, Head of Responsible Gaming at PawaTech, and Erastus Johannes, Acting CEO of the Gambling Board of Namibia.

The panellists outlined current approaches being used in their respective markets to detect and address problem gambling, emphasising behavioural analytics as a key tool for monitoring player activity and identifying early warning signs. They noted that combining data-driven tools with human oversight allows operators to intervene more effectively and tailor responsible gaming measures to individual player behaviour.

Allen said Jamaica’s framework is built on three pillars: player protection, internal compliance systems and community-level interventions. He stated that combining these elements allows regulators and operators to address risks at both individual and societal levels.
