Peter Kesitilwe appointed to Clarion Gaming Regulatory Board

The appointment of Kesitilwe strengthens African representation in global gaming regulatory discussions.

Botswana.- Clarion Gaming has appointed Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe as a new member of its Regulatory Advisory Board. Kesitilwe, who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the African iGaming Alliance, brings years of work in reshaping gambling policies across the African continent to the board.

Clarion Gaming’s Regulatory Board, made up of regulators and industry specialists from around the world, facilitates constructive discussions on gaming rules. They help shape topics at major events like ICE and iGB Live, where leaders meet to address real-world challenges in the field. The appointment of Kesitilwe strengthens African representation in global gaming regulatory discussions.

Clarion Gaming says it chose Kesitilwe for his hands-on knowledge of African markets, where he has worked to reduce unlicensed gambling operations, promote responsible gambling and push for fair taxes that boost governments’ revenue while keeping the industry viable.

Kesitilwe commented on his new role in a LinkedIn post: “Honoured to join the Clarion Gaming Regulatory Advisory Board, representing Africa. This appointment reflects the growing relevance of African markets in global gaming discussions and the importance of practical, balanced regulation that supports consumer protection, sustainable taxation and the fight against illegal markets.

“I look forward to contributing African perspectives to global platforms such as ICE and iGB Live, and to engaging with fellow regulators and industry leaders on shaping the future of responsible gaming.”

Kesitilwe’s induction onto the Regulatory Advisory Board means more input from African experts in worldwide gaming decisions. With Africa’s young population and widespread use of mobile tech driving the sector’s expansion, leaders like Kesitilwe can highlight local needs, such as adapting rules to emerging markets.

The African iGaming Alliance welcomed the move in a statement: “This appointment reinforces Africa’s growing voice in global gaming regulation and recognises the continent’s leadership in policy reform, sustainable taxation and combating illegal markets. AiA is proud to see African perspectives shaping regulatory dialogue at global platforms such as ICE and iGB Live.”

Before taking the helm at the African iGaming Alliance in September 2025, Kesitilwe worked as the CEO of the Gambling Authority of Botswana. He currently serves on the executive committee of the African Organisation for Standardisation and the boards of the International Association of Gaming Regulators and the Gaming Regulators African Forum.
