NLGRB reinforces public engagement and trust in Uganda’s gambling framework at National Court open day
NLGRB highlights its role in ensuring fair play, compliance and consumer protection while strengthening Uganda’s gambling regulatory framework.
Uganda.- The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) showcased Uganda’s commitment to a safe, transparent and regulated gambling environment at the 2nd National Court Open Day. The recent event, organised by the Judiciary of Uganda, provided an important platform for public engagement, raising awareness and fostering collaboration to enhance justice delivery across the country.
The NLGRB offered visitors a closer look at its regulatory efforts, demonstrating its role in ensuring the industry remains legal, fair and consumer-friendly. The exhibition, held at Kololo Independence Grounds, featured confiscated gaming machines, brochures and posters, providing educational materials on responsible gambling and consumer protection.
The NLGRB said: “The Board reaffirms its commitment to working closely with the Judiciary and other stakeholders to promote access to justice, uphold accountability and ensure a safe and responsible gaming environment for all Ugandans.”
Public interaction and fairness
The Board emphasised the interactive nature of the exhibition, where visitors gained first-hand insight into how the NLGRB regulates gaming, including licensing, compliance and responsible gambling practices.
The NLGRB engaged with the public on several key areas, including the licensing of gaming operators, player protection measures, compliance checks and the prosecution of illegal gaming operators. Officials were on hand to educate visitors about the Board’s role in ensuring fair play and enforcing the rules of the industry.
Officials from the Standards, Wildlife and Utilities Court attended, reinforcing collaboration between the Judiciary and the NLGRB to maintain a secure and trustworthy gambling sector. Notable attendees included Justice Christopher Gashirabake, Justice of the Court of Appeal.
This engagement follows broader efforts by the NLGRB to strengthen Uganda’s regulated gambling sector, including a strategic partnership with the Judiciary and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to enhance enforcement against illegal gaming, establish dedicated gaming offence courts and support legal and responsible play.
