National Lottery Authority boosts digital access for Ghana’s tech-savvy players
NLA drives lottery modernisation with new online platforms and strong player protections.
Ghana.- Ghana’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) is changing how people play the lottery by stepping firmly into the digital era. This shift particularly benefits Ghana’s growing number of tech-savvy users who prefer quick and convenient ways to participate online.
Recently, the NLA took a major step forward by launching its Websales platform, giving players the chance to buy lottery tickets online. This service meets the growing demand for fast, secure and easy digital access, especially among the younger market.
It works alongside the well-known 959# shortcode platform, developed with KGL Technology Limited, which allows users to purchase 5/90 lottery tickets faster and directly from their phones.
The authority oversees lottery operations in Ghana and plays a key role beyond just gaming. It also helps support the country’s growth. The NLA said the lottery generates vital revenues that “support healthcare, education and infrastructure, touching millions of lives across the country.”
Even as it adopts new technologies, the Authority stays committed to keeping players safe. “Innovation is central to our approach. By combining digital tools with responsible gaming, we aim to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all,” said the NLA in a statement.
Modernising goes beyond technology for the Authority. The NLA also runs public education campaigns, enforces strict age verification and ensures payment security, making certain every player can participate safely.
Even as private and international companies increase competition, the NLA continues to hold its position as Ghana’s trusted lottery leader. By embracing digital changes while prioritising responsibility, the NLA is setting a benchmark for others to follow.
At the same time, the NLA is vigilant against fraud. It warns: “Any digital platforms not officially partnered with the NLA are illegal.” This protects players and helps keep the lottery market transparent and fair.
