Namibia.- The Gambling Board of Namibia (GBN) has appointed an independent consultancy to oversee the appointment of its next chief executive officer, underscoring the regulator’s focus on governance and oversight.

GBN has tasked the Institute of Training & Consulting Services (ITCS) with independently administering and facilitating the recruitment and selection process for the CEO role. According to a vacancy advertisement published on June 5 2026, applications for the five-year contract position close on June 19 2026.

The successful candidate will be based at GBN’s head office in Windhoek and occupy a position graded at F1 level. The advert states that ITCS was appointed to administer the process “in compliance with the company policies and governance principles.” The Gambling Board’s website identifies Johannes Erastus as its acting chief executive officer.

According to the vacancy notice, the CEO will be responsible for the Board’s strategic direction and operations, including compliance, enforcement and stakeholder engagement. Applicants are required to hold a master’s degree in business administration, law or a related field and possess at least 10 years of senior management experience.

The notice states that the Board “aims to create a level playing field for all stakeholders and ensure that the industry benefits all key stakeholders on a long-term basis without causing harm.” It further states that the regulator “seeks to develop new solutions for better regulation of the industry.”

Established under the Gaming and Entertainment Control Act 2018 (Act 13 of 2018), GBN is responsible for regulating Namibia’s gambling industry. On its website, the regulator states that it is “aspiring to be a world-class regulator of Namibian gambling industry” and promotes “fairness, transparency, and responsible gambling.”
