Mauritius Gambling Regulatory Authority opens 2027 horse-racing applications to international applicants
New applications and licence renewals are underway as Mauritius prepares for the 2027 horse-racing season.
Mauritius’ Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) has opened applications for new trainers and stables ahead of the 2027 horse-racing season, with applications being accepted from both local and international applicants.
The GRA announced the opening in a press communiqué issued on August 28, while also confirming that the renewal process is underway for operators already licensed or registered by the Authority. The GRA said: “applications for new trainers and stables are presently open to local and international applicants.”
The move means prospective trainers and stable operators from outside Mauritius can also apply to participate in the country’s horse-racing sector for the 2027 season.
At the same time, existing participants in the industry are required to go through the renewal process. The categories covered include trainers and stables, assistant trainers, equestrian centres, riders, stable supervisors and equine professionals. The deadline for both new applications and renewals is November 30, 2026.
The riders category covers jockeys, apprentices and trackwork riders, while equine professionals are also included in the renewal process.
The regulator has made it clear that the deadline will be strictly applied. Applications received after November 30, whether for new applications or renewals, “shall not be considered.” Application forms and the relevant guidelines can be downloaded from the GRA website.
