Mauritius gambling regulator and police unit present as Lottotech stages lottery draw

GRA and Police des Jeux representatives were present for the live draw, while 18 NGOs competed in a Wingo game at La City Mall.

Mauritius.- Mauritius’ Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) and Police des Jeux, a specialised unit of the Mauritius Police Force with gambling inspection and investigation powers, were present as Lottotech staged a live lottery draw at La City Mall.

The event celebrated International Lottery Day, which took place on August 27, with the draw taking place “under the watchful eye of GRA and Police des Jeux representatives”, according to a LinkedIn post by Mirasi Group, which operates La City Mall.

Lottotech runs the Mauritius National Lottery under a licence from the GRA. The authority regulates gambling in the country, with its inspectors also supervising lottery draws.

The event also featured a Wingo game hosted by Radio Plus, with 18 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) taking part in the competition.

Atelier Mo’zar won a Rs50,000 (US$1,084) prize, according to Mirasi Group. Radio Plus hosted interactive quizzes during the event, while presenter Ben Javed kept proceedings moving throughout the day.

Mirasi Group said the event brought together Lottotech representatives, officials and members of the participating NGOs. It added: “A big thank you to Lottotech, Radio Plus, the GRA, Police des Jeux, Ben Javed, all the participating NGOs, and everyone who joined us at La City Mall!”
