Mali.- Mali will host the first joint horse-racing betting event between the three members of the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), bringing together the national lottery and betting companies of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.

The Pari Confédéral AES (AES Confederation Betting Event) will bring together PMU Mali, Mali’s horse-racing and betting company, Burkina Faso’s National Lottery (LONAB) and Niger’s National Lottery (LONANI), with a FCFA150m (US$263,000) jackpot set for a special Quinté race on October 15.

The Pari Confédéral AES will take place in Bamako from October 12 to 16, 2026, bringing the three betting companies together around a common betting product, according to an announcement reported by Malijet.

The AES brings together Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, which adopted the treaty establishing the confederation at a summit in Niamey in July 2024. Plans for a joint betting product emerged in August 2025, when representatives of the three companies met in Bamako to discuss closer cooperation, including sharing expertise and developing common products.

The first Pari Confédéral AES will bring bettors from the three countries together for the same betting event, with the FCFA150m jackpot set for the special Quinté race on October 15.

The initiative is also intended to strengthen the attractiveness of the three lottery companies’ products and create opportunities for further cooperation.

The project includes a social-responsibility component, with a donation of incubators to beneficiary healthcare facilities planned as part of the event to support newborn care.

The three companies are also considering further cooperation in areas including technological innovation, training, communication, expertise-sharing and social responsibility.

According to the announcement, the Pari Confédéral could become a recurring initiative if the first edition is successful. The companies could also develop additional joint products and potentially incorporate the event into a common calendar of activities.
