LONASE staff begin AI training as Senegal accelerates digital gaming
LONASE is training 50 employees in artificial intelligence as the Senegalese national lottery advances its digital transformation.
Senegal.- Senegal’s National Lottery (LONASE) has 50 employees taking part in practical artificial intelligence (AI) training organised by the LONASE Executive Staff Association (APCL).
The first session took place on August 22, with the second and final session scheduled for August 29. The programme involves APCL members and 12 non-managerial LONASE employees, according to the association.
The workshop forms part of APCL’s effort to strengthen the professional skills of its members under its current management team, which has been in place since late 2025. “Beyond the discovery of AI tools, the objective is resolutely practical: to allow participants to better understand these technologies,” APCL said in a LinkedIn post.
The association said the training will help participants progressively incorporate AI into their professional practices and use it to improve efficiency, productivity and innovation. “The challenge is clear: to prepare LONASE employees for the jobs and working methods of tomorrow,” APCL said.
The initiative gives LONASE employees practical exposure to AI as part of their professional development and the operator’s wider digital activities, with the second and final workshop taking place on August 29.
The training comes as LONASE expands its digital presence in Senegal’s gaming market. In July, LONASE launched LPbet, an online sports-betting platform aimed at strengthening the state lottery’s position in Senegal’s digital betting market. The platform is available on mobile and desktop and incorporates multiple mobile-payment solutions. LONASE described LPbet as another step in its digital transformation and its drive for greater sovereignty in gambling and sports betting.
