LONASE denies €76,224 Fénial Digital contract

The Senegalese lottery operator’s denial follows a public dispute over the alleged agreement involving Toussaint Manga, who led LONASE before Abdourahmane Baldé took over as director general in July.

Senegal.- Senegal’s National Lottery (LONASE) has denied reports of a CFA50m (€76,224) contract between the state-owned lottery and media outlet Fénial Digital.

In a statement issued on August 6, LONASE said reports had circulated alleging that the two parties had entered into the agreement. The lottery’s management said no such contract exists, or has ever existed, between LONASE and Fénial Digital.

The reports linked the alleged agreement to the tenure of Toussaint Manga, who served as LONASE director general until Abdourahmane Baldé was appointed to the role in July. Separately, Manga denied the claims in comments reported by Senegalese media, saying no such contract was ever signed, and challenged the current management to produce evidence or a copy of the alleged agreement.

LONASE said the spread of false information could damage its image and reputation, and reserved the right to take legal action against any individual or organisation that publishes or relays what the lottery said were unfounded claims, as it continues efforts to strengthen financial governance across the sector.
