LONAB alerts Burkina Faso bettors as European weather disrupts PMU betting schedule

Burkina Faso’s national lottery operator urges customers to check revised race times after a European heatwave disrupted PMU horse racing fixtures.

Burkina Faso.- Burkina Faso’s national lottery operator (LONAB) has told bettors to check updated PMU’B race times after a heatwave in Europe disrupted the horse racing fixtures on which the product’s betting programme depends.

In an advisory issued on June 25, LONAB said: “LONAB informs its valued customers that, due to the heatwave currently affecting Europe, the horse racing calendar is experiencing temporary disruptions.” It warned that some races could face timetable changes, postponements or last-minute cancellations, and urged bettors to check the latest schedules before placing wagers.

PMU is one of LONAB’s flagship betting products, enabling customers in Burkina Faso to place pari-mutuel wagers on horse races held mainly in France and other European countries through the French PMU network. As a result, changes to the European racing programme can directly affect the betting schedule offered by LONAB.

The advisory follows an earlier operational update ahead of the June 22 racing programme, when LONAB moved Race 8 (La Nationale) from 16:30 to 11:35 because of high temperatures in France. The operator also confirmed that horse No. 4 HAZA, which had initially been declared a non-runner, had been reinstated and would take part in the race. Bettors were similarly advised to take the revised schedule into account before placing their wagers.

LONAB apologised for any inconvenience caused and said it would continue to keep customers informed of any further adjustments to the racing programme.
