Liberia NLA completes Independence donation programme
The programme distributed food and non-food items to vulnerable groups and charitable institutions as part of Liberia’s Independence Anniversary activities.
Liberia.- Liberia’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) has wrapped up its Independence Anniversary donation programme targeting vulnerable people and charitable institutions in Montserrado County and Buchanan City.
The exercise formed part of the Authority’s activities marking Liberia’s July 26 Independence Anniversary. In a press release on Thursday, August 27, the NLA said the donations were aimed at supporting people and institutions dealing with social and economic challenges.
Over the course of a month, the Authority distributed items such as assorted food supplies and selected non-food materials to various beneficiaries in the selected areas, including persons living with disabilities, orphans, older people, destitute individuals and other vulnerable groups.
NLA director general Peter L. Solo described humanitarian support as an important part of the Authority’s institutional responsibility, saying assistance to vulnerable Liberians reflects collective responsibility and national solidarity.
Solo said the NLA would continue to strengthen its social intervention programmes and work with relevant institutions, communities and stakeholders to identify areas where its support could have the greatest social impact.
The agency reported that beneficiaries welcomed the assistance and acknowledged its efforts to support vulnerable groups across Liberia. It also thanked its partners, beneficiaries, community representatives and staff members who contributed to the completion of the donation exercise.
