Liberia draws on Ghana’s expertise for 5/90 Lottery seamless rollout
Cross-border collaboration ensures transparency, operational excellence and a strong debut for Liberia’s 5/90 Lotto.
Liberia.- Liberia is turning to Ghana for guidance as it prepares to launch its 5/90 Lottery Game. Hon. Peter Solo, Director-General of the Liberia National Lottery Authority (NLA), praised Ghana’s National Lottery Authority for its “outstanding leadership in the gaming industry” during a recent visit.
Solo, accompanied by Deputy Director-General Hon. Richlue Burphy and several NLA directors, met with Ghanaian officials on August 27 to learn from their experience, widely regarded as a benchmark for the 5/90 game.
He also commended Ghana’s authority for its “dedication to operational excellence, transparency and support for good causes”. Ahead of its first draw on September 6, Liberia is consulting Ghana to ensure the 5/90 game runs smoothly.

Ghana’s Director-General, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, welcomed the Liberian delegation alongside the authority’s executive team and pledged technical support for Liberia’s 5/90 Game launch.
“We will establish a technical committee to liaise with our Liberian counterparts and guide them on regulation, operationalisation, monitoring mechanisms and related areas,” said Abdul-Salam.
Cross-border boost for Liberia’s 5/90
The visit underscores the growing trend of cross-border collaboration in Africa’s lottery and gaming sector, where established authorities share expertise to enhance efficiency, transparency and social impact.
Ghana’s lottery model, widely praised for balancing commercial success with responsible gaming and community contributions, provided Liberia with technical guidance and a benchmark for building a robust, well-governed lottery system.
In the lead-up to the launch, Liberia completed key preparations, including a full inspection of Blue Star High Tech Liberia Limited’s facilities, the company contracted to operate the new 5/90 Ball Lotto.
Drawing on Ghana’s popular 5/90 lottery, the numbers game where players select five numbers from a pool of 90, Liberia is now set for a strong and well-prepared debut.
