South Africa.- The 2025 edition of the Khabba Cup was nothing short of electric, as Eastern Cape XI etched their name into the history books with a thrilling win over Lagos FC in a pulsating final. The tournament was powered by Hollywoodbets and continues to raise the bar for elite youth football across South Africa.
With thousands of fans flooding the stands and scouts watching closely, this year’s tournament proved to be more than just a competition; it was a celebration of raw talent, resilience and the unstoppable rise of grassroots football in South Africa.
The champions walked away with R120,000 ($6,300) in prize money, while a valiant Lagos FC team pocketed R50,000 ($2,630) for their runner-up finish.
“I am over the moon with happiness,” said winning coach Sihle Makhanya in a HollywoodBets blog post.
“What makes it even greater is that a lot of these players are young boys who had never been exposed to such a high level of football… Hollywoodbets makes a lot of contribution to football development at the grassroots level for men’s and women’s football which is key for tournaments like these.”
A launchpad for future stars

“It was incredible to see thousands of fans filling King Zwelithini Stadium to watch rising stars,” Mkhize said.
“The talent and skill on display today prove that the future of South African football is bright.”
