Gambling Authority holds stakeholder meeting with casino operators in Botswana

Botswana.- In an effort to address industry concerns and ensure regulatory adherence, the Gambling Authority has held a consultative engagement with casino operators in its jurisdiction.
The meeting, held on June 19 at the Authority’s offices, provided a forum for stakeholders to openly discuss pressing issues facing the sector. Discussions centred around key topics like the proliferation of unlicensed operators, player protection measures, licensing requirements and review of the gambling policy.
Bipin Awasthi, on behalf of the Gaming Association of Botswana, acknowledged the Authority’s initiative to create a platform for industry dialogue and thanked them for the opportunity.
In his address, Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the Gambling Authority, assured operators that all issues raised would be handled with diligence and transparency. He also urged continued collaboration to drive growth and responsible regulation in Botswana’s gaming sector.
To strengthen oversight capabilities to meet industry realities and concerns in modern times, the government is working on revising Botswana’s current gambling policy.
