GamblePause, NAMDEF partner on responsible gaming
The two organisations plan to work with policymakers, researchers and civil society groups to promote knowledge sharing and improve awareness of responsible gambling.
Namibia.- African responsible gaming advocacy groups GamblePause Initiative Africa and the Namibia Development Foundation Trust (NAMDEF) have entered into a cross-border partnership aimed at expanding player protection efforts across Africa.
The collaboration will focus on responsible gaming advocacy through research, capacity building, stakeholder engagement and evidence-based initiatives designed to reduce gambling-related harm. It will also support prevention programmes, public education and early intervention measures.
GamblePause Initiative Africa founder Ladipo Abiose Akolade and NAMDEF founding member Dr Jeremia Lucas Muadinohamba said the partnership is intended to help regulators, gaming operators and communities strengthen responsible gaming practices across the continent.
The two organisations plan to work with policymakers, researchers and civil society groups to promote knowledge sharing, improve awareness of responsible gambling and encourage the adoption of player protection measures suited to African markets.
The partners said that the alliance will also seek to strengthen dialogue between industry stakeholders and regulators while supporting the development of sustainable responsible gaming frameworks.
The agreement comes as African gambling markets continue to expand, with responsible gaming organisations placing greater emphasis on collaboration to address issues such as problem gambling and underage gambling through research-driven and community-based initiatives, building on GamblePause’s recent expansion into Nigeria’s rehabilitation services and other African markets.
