FCCPC, Lagos gaming regulator reaffirm consumer protection at iLOTBET prize presentation

The authority said it paid close attention to how participants’ information was handled during the campaign, noting that protecting consumer data has become increasingly important as cybercrime continues to evolve.

Nigeria.- Nigerian regulators have reiterated that protecting consumers’ personal data remains a key part of gaming oversight, as concerns over cybercrime continue to shape regulatory priorities.

The assurance was given during the recent prize presentation for iLOTBET’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign in Lagos, where officials from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) confirmed that the promotion was conducted under regulatory supervision.

FCCPC Southwest zonal coordinator Dr. Olubunmi Otti said the commission monitored the campaign from start to finish to ensure consumers were treated fairly and that the operator fulfilled its obligations to participants.

According to Otti, the process was transparent and met the commission’s expectations, adding that the FCCPC would continue to safeguard consumer interests by ensuring promotional promises made by gaming operators are honoured and that verified winners receive their prizes.

LSLGA principal legal officer Kemi Adebiyi said the authority also paid close attention to how participants’ information was handled during the campaign, noting that protecting consumer data has become increasingly important as cybercrime continues to evolve.

She added that, as the regulator responsible for lottery and gaming activities in Lagos State, the LSLGA found the campaign and its prize presentation to have been conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

The event concluded with the presentation of prizes to winners, including a four-bedroom duplex valued at NGN150m (€96,000) as the grand prize. Other rewards included an iPhone 17, tablet devices, smart TVs, generators, microwave ovens, standing fans and power banks.

iLOTBET managing director Uma Ntima thanked participants and stakeholders for supporting the campaign, describing the prize presentation as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to delivering on the promises made during its 2026 FIFA World Cup promotion.
