Ethiopian Investment Holdings accelerates lottery transformation
EIH calls for stronger digital capabilities, market monitoring, and responsible gaming as it seeks to strengthen the Ethiopian Lottery Service.
Ethiopia.- The Ethiopian Lottery Service (ELS), the country’s state lottery, is being urged to accelerate its transformation as Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH), the government’s strategic investment arm, seeks to unlock greater market potential.
EIH held its Annual Performance Dialogue with ELS, reviewing performance, sector reforms and strategic priorities, according to an EIH official LinkedIn post.
The dialogue noted that ELS had advanced its focus on key governance, regulatory and modernisation initiatives, while both volume and revenue performance fell short of the broader market potential.

EIH said: “EIH stressed the need to strengthen ELS’s core lottery business, build internal digital capabilities, enhance market monitoring, and foster a more transparent, responsible, and sustainable gaming ecosystem.”
The dialogue also emphasised the urgency of accelerating transformation to capitalise on the rapid growth of the global digital lottery and gaming sector, while maintaining responsible gaming and increasing the socio-economic contribution of the industry.
