Equatorial Guinea goes digital with first global online gambling master licence

Country launches strong framework, welcoming global online betting and casino operators in booming igaming market.

Equatorial Guinea.- Equatorial Guinea has just made a power move in the global online gambling scene by awarding its very first Online Gaming Master Licence to Mascott Capital Partners, a Cyprus-based leader in gaming management and licensing. This landmark step signals the country’s commitment to embracing the fast-growing and lucrative world of igaming.

Covering online betting, remote gaming and virtual casinos, this licence puts Equatorial Guinea on the map as a serious player ready to shake up the international online gambling market.

This marks the first time the country is launching a fully regulated online gambling licensing framework, a move poised to generate revenue, enforce consumer protections and stamp out illegal operators.

“The granting of this master licence marks a new era for Equatorial Guinea and signals our commitment to a regulated, internationally recognised digital gambling sector,” said the Equatorial Guinea Government office, in a press statement.

The licence has been awarded by Minister of Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure Antonio Borupu, and is backed by the country’s Law 2/1995 and the tax reforms of Law 10/2017, which overhaul gambling regulations, streamline taxation and bolster designated contributions to public initiatives.

“This initiative reflects our ambition to attract global investment, drive economic diversification and ensure responsible gaming practices under our national jurisdiction,” said the Government office.

Mascott drives nation’s online gambling leap

Mascott Capital Partners will serve as the central gateway for multinational gaming companies looking to enter Equatorial Guinea’s regulated digital gaming market. Through its proprietary platform, Mascott will manage remote licences, onboarding and compliance through a single digital portal.

The new online Gaming, Betting and Casino Licensing Framework is designed with strict enforcement mechanisms. Operators must meet rigorous financial, legal and ethical benchmarks. These include age verification, anti-money laundering compliance, regular audits and clear rules on player bonuses and advertising. The law also mandates transparency, data retention and user risk disclosures.

With this move, Equatorial Guinea positions itself as a serious contender in Africa’s digital gaming evolution and is sending a clear message to operators worldwide.

“Equatorial Guinea is now open for business in the remote online gambling space and we are committed to ensuring that every player, partner and platform meets the highest international standards,” added the Government office.
