The regulator said that it remains focused on improving regulatory standards.
South Africa.- The Eastern Cape Gambling Board has been honoured with the Continental Commitment and Impact Award at the Gaming Tech Summit Africa, held from June 2 to 4, 2026, in Kenya.
According to the Board, the recognition reflects its ongoing work in promoting a responsible and ethical gambling environment while strengthening regulatory oversight across the sector. It noted that the award is a vote of confidence in its efforts to balance industry growth with the need to protect consumers, particularly through responsible gambling initiatives.
Over recent years, the Eastern Cape gambling sector has recorded steady growth, supported by a regulatory environment focused on compliance, responsible gambling and consumer protection. The province’s licensing framework and enforcement approach have contributed to improved stability, giving licensed operators greater confidence to invest and expand within the jurisdiction.
The regulator added that it remains focused on improving regulatory standards and working with other African regulators to build a safer and better-governed gambling industry. It further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a well-regulated, competitive and socially responsible gambling market in the Eastern Cape.
