Eastern Cape Gambling Board backs SiGMA Africa 2026 summit
ECGB Chief Executive R.M. Zwane noted that the summit aligns closely with the board’s strategic mandate to promote growth, innovation, and the sustainable development of the regulated gaming industry.
South Africa.- The Eastern Cape Gambling Board (ECGB) has formally endorsed the upcoming SiGMA Africa 2026 summit, scheduled to take place from March 3 to 5, 2026, at Sun Exhibits, GrandWest, in Cape Town, South Africa.
In an official letter of support, ECGB Chief Executive R.M. Zwane highlighted the “pivotal role that SiGMA plays in uniting industry leaders and key stakeholders across the gaming and technology sectors.” Zwane noted that the summit aligns closely with the board’s strategic mandate to promote growth, innovation and the sustainable development of the regulated gaming industry.
Established in 1997 under the Eastern Cape Gambling Act, the ECGB regulates gambling activities, including licensing, compliance and enforcement, within the Eastern Cape. It also promotes responsible practices and ethical conduct across the province’s gaming industry. The board said it views its involvement with SiGMA Africa as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, share expertise and contribute to broader sector development.
SiGMA Africa, part of the SiGMA World global tour of igaming events, has expanded significantly since its launch in 2022, positioning itself as a key continental platform for discussion around innovation, regulation and investment in gaming. The 2026 summit is expected to attract around 3,000 delegates, including operators, affiliates, speakers and C-suite executives from across Africa and beyond.
Regulatory endorsements for the event extend beyond South Africa, with the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya also confirming its support and underscoring the summit’s importance in advancing responsible growth and regional industry cooperation.
As African markets continue to mature, regulatory confidence and industry collaboration at events such as SiGMA Africa are widely seen as critical to fostering investment, strengthening compliance frameworks and supporting sustainable development across the region’s growing gaming industry.
