DigiPlus secures Western Cape licences, eyes South Africa market entry
The licences enable the company to provide gambling services and deploy its gaming systems within the regulated market.
South Africa.- Philippine gaming firm DigiPlus Interactive Corp has obtained regulatory approval to operate in South Africa’s Western Cape, marking its entry into one of Africa’s largest online gaming markets.
The licences, issued by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB), allow DigiPlus to establish operations in the province as part of its international expansion strategy. The three permits include a National Manufacturer Licence, a Bookmaker Licence and a Bookmaker Premises Licence. These licences collectively enable the company to provide gambling services and deploy its gaming systems within the regulated market.
South Africa’s gaming industry is estimated to have generated about $4.9bn (€4.15bn) in revenue in 2025, according to company disclosures, with the Western Cape contributing roughly 31 per cent of national online gaming revenue.
DigiPlus said the Western Cape is attractive to international operators because of its established regulatory framework and digital infrastructure. These factors have helped position the province as a leading hub for online gambling activity in South Africa.
DigiPlus operates several digital gaming platforms in the Philippines, including BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone. Its move into South Africa reflects a broader effort to diversify revenue streams and scale its digital offerings beyond its home market.
With regulatory approvals in the Western Cape now secured, DigiPlus is expected to begin preparations for market entry. The rollout will likely depend on meeting local operational requirements and adapting its products to the South African betting environment, as competition intensifies among licensed operators in the region.
