The National Lottery of Côte d’Ivoire (LONACI), has expanded its field engagement efforts after Director General Dramane Coulibaly conducted a series of visits to betting outlets across Abidjan to gather player feedback, assess operations and identify challenges facing sales outlets.

Coulibaly toured several Loto Bonheur sales outlets and PMU (PLR) betting points in the Abidjan municipalities of Abobo and Yopougon on June 9, with the outreach later extending to Koumassi on June 13. During the tour, he personally placed lottery bets a gesture LONACI said demonstrated its commitment to customer experience and service quality.

The tour enabled management to gather the concerns and expectations of players, distributors and concessionaires while assessing conditions at retail outlets, according to AIP. Coulibaly said: “We are here to understand the real problems encountered by our partners and players.”

The field initiative forms part of the operator’s broader “proximity governance” strategy as it seeks to strengthen ties with bettors, retailers and sales agents across its network. LONACI said: “The proximity approach allowed Coulibaly to engage directly with network stakeholders and identify difficulties encountered in the field.”

The initiative also included surprise visits to betting outlets, aimed at maintaining direct contact with customers and network partners while identifying opportunities to improve service delivery. Management reviewed player reception conditions, security arrangements and staff mobilisation across the network as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency.

The tour later continued in Yopougon and Koumassi, where Coulibaly was joined by members of LONACI’s 55th anniversary organising committee. The visits come during a busy period for the operator, which recently reported that its foundation had invested CFA2.6bn (US$4.3m) in community projects and supported nearly 700 initiatives across Côte d’Ivoire.
