ChopWin hosts official Sierra Leone launch as West African gaming expansion accelerates

Sierra Leone’s ChopWin held its official Freetown launch months after entering the market, as the operator expanded its West African footprint.

Sierra Leone.- ChopLife Gaming’s ChopWin has formally unveiled its Sierra Leone operations during a launch event in Freetown, as the online gaming operator continues expanding across West Africa.

Held on May 9 at the New Brookfields Hotel, the event brought together company executives, policymakers and gaming stakeholders as ChopLife Gaming increased its visibility in Sierra Leone’s growing online gambling sector.

The launch ceremony came months after ChopWin entered the Sierra Leone market in November 2025, with the operator now publicly unveiling the brand as part of its wider West African expansion drive. Speaking during the event, Dickor Kargbo, operations manager of ChopWin SL, said: “We have the most seamless and reliable payment system in Sierra Leone,” according to OwlPress.

ChopWin operates as an online gaming platform offering casino-style and instant-win products aimed at smartphone users, including crash-style games, digital betting experiences and rapid mobile payment services tailored to African markets. The company also used the event to highlight its broader African growth strategy, with ChopWin already active in markets including The Gambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo and Uganda.

Afrobeats artist and ChopLife Gaming co-founder Mr Eazi also outlined the company’s broader ambitions for the brand, saying: “We are building a company where entertainment meets opportunities, and where the energy of our culture shows up in everything we do.”

ChopLife Gaming has continued growing its African presence in recent months, including entering Liberia’s regulated online betting market earlier this year while strengthening the ChopWin brand across multiple West African jurisdictions.

The ceremony also highlighted responsible gaming and regulation as governments and industry stakeholders adapt to the continued growth of mobile betting and online casino products across the continent.

John Buckle, an official from Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Social Welfare, called for balanced oversight of the sector. “We are not asking the government to impose harsh policies against betting operators, but rather to create policies that are friendly for both operators and users,” said Buckle

Mohammed Barrie, Member of Parliament representing Sierra Leone’s Bombali District, addressed responsible gaming concerns during the event. “Nobody should take betting as a means of survival. It should only be optional”, he said.
