Rising internet access, a young population and supportive regulation are driving steady growth in Cameroon’s gambling sector, projected to reach $630m by 2030.

Cameroon.- Cameroon’s gambling market is evolving, with the overall market projected to reach $560.02m in 2025, according to the Statista Market Insights report for September 2025. The market is expected to continue expanding, reaching $630.22m by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.39 per cent.

The Statista report states that the number of users is forecast to grow to six million by 2030, while user penetration is projected at 18.3 per cent in 2025, with an average revenue per user (ARPU) of $102.25.

The report said: “Online gambling is increasingly preferred as a form of entertainment and a potential source of income. The convenience and accessibility via mobile devices are key drivers of growth, and government regulation and legal frameworks have created a secure environment for operators.”

These findings underscore a shift toward digital engagement, reflecting how mobile technology and internet access are reshaping gambling habits in Cameroon.

Digital momentum and market drivers

The report emphasises that these trends indicate a market increasingly oriented toward online platforms, mobile engagement and structured regulatory oversight. Analysts highlight that the combination of favourable demographics, growing internet penetration and supportive government policy positions Cameroon’s gambling sector for sustained expansion in the coming years.

Cameroon’s relatively young population, with a large proportion under the age of 30, further supports the rise of digital betting. Increasing disposable incomes and widespread smartphone adoption make online gambling more accessible to tech-savvy consumers.

Football passion continues to drive interest in online sports betting, with fans using digital platforms to engage with their favourite teams and matches. Mobile-friendly apps and websites make participation seamless, contributing to a steady increase in online gambling adoption.
