Burkina Faso’s National Lottery launches audit to strengthen operations
The state-run operator has begun a March audit to review internal systems and prepare for a certification assessment scheduled for April 2026.
Burkina Faso.- The National Lottery of Burkina Faso (LONAB) has launched a mock audit in March aimed at strengthening its operational and management systems ahead of a certification audit scheduled for April.
LONAB said: “The mock audit running from March 16 to 20, 2026 will make it possible to detect possible non-conformities, refine internal practices and make the necessary adjustments before the official audit.”
The opening session took place on March 16 and was chaired by Director General Ibrahim Zarani, with the process conducted in collaboration with the Burkinabè Association for Quality Management (ABMAQ). The audit includes document reviews, staff interviews and on-site inspections across the operator’s headquarters in Ouagadougou and regional agencies.
Zarani said: “This exercise will allow us to identify non-conformities and make the adjustments so that we can approach the official audit with confidence.”
The operator runs Burkina Faso’s national lottery as well as betting products, including horse-race betting through PMU’B, placing the process within the country’s wider gambling sector.
