Board sessions focus on governance, budgeting and operational planning as LONAB prepares for a pivotal year.

Burkina Faso.- The National Lottery of Burkina Faso (LONAB) is entering a decisive phase. On December 15 and 16, the Board of Directors convened for two critical meetings, the 3rd Ordinary Session and the 6th Extraordinary Session, as the organisation prepares to strengthen governance and operations for 2026.

Opening the sessions, Board President Zagré Rimtounda emphasised LONAB’s central role in Burkina Faso’s economy. She said: “It is essential that the institution is equipped to carry out its 2026 activities efficiently and effectively”, highlighting the board’s focus on oversight and accountability.

During the ordinary session, the board examined recommendations and key planning documents, including the 2026 activity program, budget and cash flow plan. These discussions aim to ensure the lottery continues to run smoothly. They also focus on strengthening its contribution to national development.

The extraordinary session turned attention to staff and compliance matters. The board reviewed social liability clearance and approved the staff transfer plan under the updated state-owned company pay grid. These measures strengthen internal management and ensure operational transparency.

LONAB has long been a key contributor to public revenue and socio-economic initiatives. Its recent board sessions highlight how careful planning and governance shape the lottery’s operations, budget management and program delivery, illustrating the real impact of effective oversight on product performance and confidence across the African gaming sector.

LONAB’s bold moves in governance and planning are set to define its 2026 path and cement its role as a benchmark for national lotteries across West Africa.
